The start of the SPL Journal

Don't I wish I had kept a journal since the day i took this hobby up again. But I didn't.

Thanks to the magic of Drupal I can reverse engineer these journal entries back in time to roughly when things happened. this journal really started on 9th April 2008. All these entries have been time-shifted back to when I think they happened.

I had Marklin as a kid and I built a couple of model railroads in the basement as a teenager, but in mid teeens it was just too uncool and I sold the lot.

Somewhere around 2002 I took the hobby up again. I don't recall what triggered it, but moving back to New Zealand, having a three year old son, and being surrounded by steam museums would have had something to do with it.
